The Fully Automatic Candle Filter for Beer Filtration is a specialized, fully automated solution designed for beer filtration, used to precisely remove suspended particles such as yeast and protein before bottling. This equipment utilizes wedge-wire filter candles, an independent pre-coating preparation system, and PLC control to achieve full automation of the entire process from filtration, sludge discharge, to equipment cleaning. Through its repeatable and precise process, it ensures consistent beer clarity and significantly reduces manual operation and consumable costs.
The equipment is widely used in the filtration of beer, wine, fruit juices, condiments (soy sauce/vinegar/cooking wine), and other similar liquid beverages.

Crafted from precision-welded stainless steel wedge wires, these filter elements form V-shaped gaps that deliver both mechanical strength and consistent filtration accuracy. Their unique surface promotes secure diatomaceous earth adhesion, enabling stable filter cake formation that captures impurities without compromising flow. Compatible with high-pressure backwashing and CIP processes, they eliminate fiber shedding and sanitary dead zones. As permanent fixtures with multi-year lifespans, they remove ongoing filter cloth costs and labor, providing a hygienic, cost-effective filtration solution.

A specialized liquid inlet distributor at the tank bottom ensures uniform feed distribution. It guides the liquid smoothly from the conical base toward each filter candle, achieving balanced flow across all candles and consistent velocity at any tank cross-section. This promotes the formation of a uniform, dense pre-coat layer on the filter surfaces, significantly improving filtration efficiency. Additionally, the distributor prevents direct liquid impact on the candles, thereby avoiding disruption of the pre-coat filter cake.

During the filtration process, diatomaceous earth can be added continuously while filtering. The diatomaceous earth, along with the suspended solids in the liquid being filtered, is intercepted and adsorbed by the candle filter elements, forming a fresh filter layer. Simultaneously, this process prevents the micropores of the new filter layer from becoming clogged, thereby maintaining optimal filtering performance, extending the filtration cycle duration, and providing reliable assurance for the total volume achievable in a single filtration run.

The system operates fully automatically. When the pressure inside the filter vessel exceeds the set value (0.6 MPa), the control system automatically reduces the speed of the feed pump. This effectively stabilizes the filtration pressure, ensuring the filtrate remains consistently clear and transparent with stable quality. The equipment utilizes an efficient, low-water-consumption backflush jet system, capable of rapidly and thoroughly cleaning the filter candles.

The entire pipeline system is constructed with SUS304 sanitary-grade stainless steel tubing, featuring mirror-finished inner and outer walls. The system is equipped with a sanitary four-way sight glass for process observation, high-quality pneumatic butterfly valves (for automatic control) and manual butterfly valves (for isolation maintenance). All pressure gauges are sanitary-grade shock-resistant stainless steel models, and the safety valves likewise meet sanitary standards. This configuration ensures both reliable operation and strict compliance with hygienic requirements.
Through automated CIP cleaning of both tanks, the system undergoes a standardized and thorough cleaning after each use. This eliminates microbial growth and cross-contamination between batches caused by inadequate manual cleaning. This helps extend beer shelf life, reduces the risk of returns due to microbial contamination, and facilitates passing strict hygiene audits.
The use of wedge-wire metal filter candles eliminates the need for filter cloths. This directly reduces consumable costs for the filtration process, while also decreasing equipment maintenance time and manual labor input.
Fully automatic valves and control enable seamless integration of the filtration, sludge discharge, and cleaning processes, minimizing the preparation time between batches. This allows for filtering more batches of beer per unit of time, directly increasing production capacity.
By precisely controlling the opening of the dosing valve via the PLC, the addition rate of diatomaceous earth can be stabilized at the optimal setpoint. This results in the formation of a stable filter cake, ensuring consistent filtration performance. This leads to highly uniform clarity across different beer batches, effectively enhancing brand quality perception. All process parameters are automatically recorded, providing a reliable data chain for quality analysis and process optimization.
Operators only need to initiate the process with a single button start, and the system automatically completes the entire cycle. Personnel are not required to handle chemicals, hot components, or perform confined space cleaning. This reduces the skill requirements and labor intensity for operators while fundamentally avoiding associated manual safety risks.
