Industrial Liquid Filtration Systems & Filter Housings

While filter presses are designed for heavy sludge dewatering, Industrial Liquid Filters are engineered for fluid clarification, continuous processing, and high-precision polishing. These systems are designed to remove trace impurities, micro-particles, and suspended solids from large volumes of liquids, ensuring your final product meets strict quality, optical, and sanitary standards.

As a comprehensive filtration equipment manufacturer, Yuwei offers a massive portfolio of liquid filtration technologies. Our product line encompasses high-flow Bag Filter Housings, sub-micron Cartridge Filters, fully automatic Self-Cleaning Filters, and specialized Pressure Leaf and Candle Filters. Available in highly durable Polypropylene (PP) or sanitary 304/316L Stainless Steel, our filtration systems are built to safeguard your downstream equipment and polish your final product in the food, pharmaceutical, water treatment, and chemical industries.

The Complete Engineering Guide to Industrial Liquid Filters

Selecting the correct liquid filtration system is critical for balancing flow rate, filtration precision (micron rating), and operational labor costs. Unlike heavy-duty dewatering presses, these filtration housings handle fluids with relatively low solid concentrations but require exceptionally high throughput and continuous operation capabilities.

1. Liquid Filtration Technology Selection Matrix

To assist engineers and procurement managers, we have structured a comparative matrix of our core liquid filtration technologies, helping you pinpoint the exact equipment for your fluid characteristics.

Filter Category Filtration Mechanism & Advantage Typical Micron Rating Best Application Scenarios
Bag Filter Housing Utilizes felt or mesh filter bags. Very high flow rates, high dirt-holding capacity, and incredibly easy/cheap media replacement. 1μm – 1000μm Cooling water, bulk chemical transfer, pre-filtration for RO systems.
Cartridge Filter Housing Houses multiple pleated or melt-blown cartridges. Provides deep, high-precision polishing and absolute retention ratings. 0.1μm – 50μm Fine pharmaceuticals, sterile water, microelectronics, wine polishing.
Self-Cleaning Filter Features internal scrapers or backwashing mechanics. Cleans itself automatically without interrupting fluid flow. Zero consumable costs. 50μm – 3000μm Continuous raw water intake, paper mill white water, highly viscous resins.
Candle & Leaf Filters Large surface area inside a pressure vessel. Often pre-coated with Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.) for ultra-fine clarification of sticky fluids. 0.5μm – 20μm Edible oil winterization, liquid sugar syrups, gelatin, beer clarification.
Micropore (PA/PE) Filter Uses sintered high-density Polyethylene or Polyamide tubes. Excellent chemical resistance and allows for powerful compressed air back-blowing. 0.5μm – 5μm Heavy metals wastewater, activated carbon removal, corrosive acids.

2. Material Construction & Sanitary Compliance

The integrity of a filter housing is dictated by its material construction. We engineer our vessels to withstand rigorous industrial environments:

  • 304 / 316L Stainless Steel: The ultimate choice for sanitary environments. We offer mirror-polished or satin-finished vessels with tri-clamp connections, fully compliant with FDA and GMP standards for food, beverage, and pharma applications.
  • Carbon Steel (Epoxy Coated): A heavy-duty, cost-effective solution for large-scale municipal water treatment, irrigation, and non-corrosive petroleum refining.
  • UPVC and Polypropylene (PP): 100% metal-free housings engineered specifically for highly aggressive environments, such as seawater desalination, electroplating solutions, and hydrochloric/sulfuric acid filtration.

3. Technical Sizing & Logistics Specifications

Proper sizing of a liquid filter housing prevents premature blinding and minimizes pressure drop (ΔP). Our engineering team calculates the required housing size (e.g., Single Bag vs. Multi-Bag, or 5-Round vs. 50-Round Cartridge vessels) based on your fluid’s viscosity and the targeted hourly flow rate (m³/h).

Logistics & Installation Note: While small single-bag housings are lightweight, our large multi-bag vessels, automatic self-cleaning strainers, and massive vertical Pressure Leaf Filters have a substantial Operating Weight. Especially when the vessel is fully pressurized and filled with liquid, the static and dynamic load on the foundation is significant. Always consult our technical drawings to ensure your facility’s structural supports and lifting cranes are adequately rated for the equipment’s wet operating weight.

4. Frequently Asked Engineering Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between a Bag Filter and a Cartridge Filter?

A Bag Filter captures dirt inside the bag, making it excellent for high-volume, coarse-to-medium filtration with very fast and cheap change-outs. A Cartridge Filter captures dirt on the outside of the pleated tubes, offering a much larger surface area in a smaller space, making it the superior choice for high-precision, sub-micron polishing.

When should I upgrade to an Automatic Self-Cleaning Filter?

If your operators are changing filter bags or cartridges multiple times a day due to high contamination levels, the labor costs and consumable expenses will quickly exceed the cost of the equipment. Upgrading to a self-cleaning filter eliminates consumable media entirely and allows your production line to run 24/7 without manual intervention.

What is Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.) Filtration used for?

D.E. is a highly porous powder used as a “filter aid.” In our Pressure Leaf and Candle filters, D.E. is mixed with the fluid to form a pre-coat on the filter elements. It is essential for filtering highly viscous or sticky liquids—like sugar syrups, gelatin, or unfiltered beer—because it traps micro-impurities without permanently clogging the underlying metal mesh.
