Unlike surface filters (like screens or bags), the SS plate and frame system is a depth filter. It works by sandwiching specialized filter media (such as micro-porous membrane paper or thick cellulose pads) between the solid plates and hollow frames.
As the liquid is pumped into the hollow frames, it is forced to pass through the micro-matrix of the filter pad before traveling down the grooved solid plate to the discharge port.
